Mayoral race

This post authored by Harriet, from zipcode 11361

I hope you intend to support the Democratic candidate for mayor. I THINK that will be Bill Thomposon.
We don't need 4 more years of King Michael, no matter how many millions he spends on convincing us that we can't do without him.

Dear Harriet,

You’re right that Bloomberg can at times overreach and ignore other points of view. I think his handling of the education system is an example of this. So I applaud shutting down failing schools and replacing them with smaller, more focused ones, but too often parents have been left out of the decision-making process. And Chancellor Joel Klein can be dismissive of their needs. Another example would be the extension of term limits without a public vote.

Still, I agree with his policies to make New Yorkers more healthy and more "green."

While I'll strongly support the Democratic nominee for Mayor, I will work with whoever is the next Mayor on the merits. But I will stand up to him when I disagree with his actions and be a strong counterweight, which is one of the Charter obligations of the Public Advocate.

Thank you for voicing your concerns.

Mark
