Publicize/Bring issues touching individual voters to the forefront: Consumer Protection

Wednesday, 8/26/2009
This post authored by Ben, from zipcode 10025

Hello Mark,
As stated in my sign-up message on your Web site, I am still puzzled as to why you do not bring out to the forefront of your campaign what you have done for New Yorkers in the consumer protection arena.
People take interest in a candidate who is poised to help them in matters they feel powerless to tackle as an individual. A recurrent variation in the theme is a consumer wronged by a business entity or a government agency unwilling to redress the issue fairly.
Best wishes,
Ben

Green for Green!

In March 1991, Mark Green charged six companies with deceptive environmental claims, labeled "green collar fraud". Perhaps it is time again to research and uphold companies to their environmental claims. The FTC has taken action against various companies, including Kmart Corp. for their false claims on "biodegradable" products just this year. As a lover of the environment and this city, I think it's important that we make sure the companies in our community are upholding their so-called standards and claims.

The Bloomberg Administration plans to spend a half billion dollars on a 120' high sanitation parking and maintenance facility on Spring and Washington Streets. They intend to consolidate 3 districts into the facility, despite the Fair Share provisions of the City Charter.

I hope you intend to support the Democratic candidate for mayor. I THINK that will be Bill Thomposon.
We don't need 4 more years of King Michael, no matter how many millions he spends on convincing us that we can't do without him.

Affordable Housing

Here, in New York City, the middle classed is being priced right out of New York City. Neighborhoods are being ruined by overbuilding luxury housing.
That makes the price of home ownership and rents go sky high.
What is the middle class to do? Young people can no longer afford to buy a home in New York City.
Can you do something to help this?
Sincerely,
Harriet J. Brown

Funding mass transit.

Increasing fares while decreasing service amounts to two bad ideas at once, but the second is worse than the first. Increased use of public, electric powered mass transit benefits all of us, through less congested roads, and cleaner air. Those who are concerned about global warming should also be eager to expand, not contract mass transit.

transportation for college students

My child has to take the LIRR and 2 buses to get to college and yet there is not discount tickets for college students who pay tuition, but there is discount tickets for middle and high school students. This is grossly unfair, especially since college students struggle with their parents to pay tuition costs. Can we get a discount too?

Women Or Men Who Become Divorced Not having the burden of filing as a Indivdual.

My mother has a pretty good job, but after she became divorced she had to file as an individual. Because of this, me and my twin sister do not qualify for anything. If she was allowed to file in some other category i think it would be much more fair.
She has an even greater burden then a joint filer, yet gets less benefits. i really do not think this is fair.
please any help on this issue i think would be great, or try running on this issue, it really is something a lot of people should care about.
